About Us

Meetings: We have monthly Board meetings from 4:30 – 6 pm at the Herald and News building on the 4th Thursday of every month except December, June, and July. Our Annual Meeting is in December. Everyone is welcome at all of our meetings. An electronic newsletter is sent out to all interested people about 3 -4 times each year.

Dues: $10/student, $15/individual, $25/family, and $35/business. All memberships are tax deductible. Make checks payable to Klamath Wingwatchers.

About Our Board

Leslie Lowe. President of Wingwatchers since 2006; came to Klamath 1973 and fell in love with nature here; retired marriage and family therapist 40 years; court connected family mediator 25 years; Treasurer of Klamath League of Women Voters, Klamath Sustainable Communities, and Klamath Outdoor Science School, and Board position on Law Library Board.

Bill Wood- Bill has been a Klamath Falls resident since 1977. He is a retired engineering technician and has been a member of the Klamath Wingwatchers since 1990. Bill has been trail coordinator since then.

Allan Lowe- -Born / raised in Detroit, Michigan.
-BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan.
-Retired from the U.S Navy.
-Worked at Quality Tool Repair shop in Klamath Falls.
-Taught Computer Science and Electrical Engineering classes at OIT
-former Board member Klamath Basin Audubon Society
-former Board Member Klamath Sustainable Communities
-Board Member of Klamath Outdoor Science School since 2023.
-Board member/ Treasurer for Klamath Wingwatchers since 2007.

Dave Potter- B.S., Wildlife Biology with distinction,  Washington State University, 1968. 1968-1971 officer, U.S. Coast Guard. Assistant Manager jobs at Klamath Basin, Willamette Valley and Mississippi River national wildlife refuges.  1979 - 2001 Project Leader of two North Dakota national wildlife refuges and wetlands management district complexes.  Extensive wetlands management and acquisition work as well as public use programs. 2001, retired . Joined Klamath Falls City Schools as a state licensed substitute teacher.

Glenn Gailis- retired Family Medicine doctor who has lived in Klamath Falls since 1975. He feels proud to be a resident of Klamath Falls and appreciates all the outdoors, the beauty and the trail systems in this area. Since retirement he has been active as a volunteer at the Sky Lakes Wellness Center, Healthy Klamath / Blue Zones project and Klamath Promise.

Mark Casebier was born in Ukiah California in 1953, left Ukiah High School in 1971. and Sonoma State University 1978 as a Biologist . He went to work in construction in 1978. In 45 years of construction work he developed expertise in electrical, plumbing and carpentry. He loves volunteering his expertise with Klamath Wingwatchers. 

Phil Dussel retired from Oregon Tech’s Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering and Technology (MMET) Department, where he served as instrument technician and adjunct faculty. In 2002, Philip crewed with other renewable energy experts to install a solar array on the state capital building in Salem. Philip went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering and manufacturing engineering from Oregon Tech and became a Certified Energy Manger (CEM) from the Association of Energy Engineers.

Dave Hays- grew up in Virginia, but has lived in most states west of the Rockies. 25 years of work for federal land management agencies, in natural resource conservation and research, recreation management, visitor services. BA from Franklin & Marshall College in Geology, MS from the University of Washington in Ecology. Dave is interested in "non-personal communications" (signs, waysides, websites, social media, video, etc.) and hopes to work with the Board to streamline and unify the visual identity of Wingwatchers and improve the educational experience of the public when they visit the Wingwatcher Trail.
